Contributing at the Ipswich Buddhist Centre

"The perfection of generosity is said to be the thought to give all beings everything". Shantideva, the 8th century Buddhist Master.

Ipswich Buddhist Centre offers something that is priceless: the teachings of the Buddha, and we give them freely. We have benefitted immensely from these teachings and practices and so we are inspired to pass them on.

Rather than charge for these teachings, we ask you to contribute to our project. The Buddhist word 'Dana' means generosity, and generosity is a central Buddhist practice and principle. Generosity is a simple and effective means to go beyond oneself. Our aim is to inspire a culture of generosity that will pervade the community. We hope you value what is offered, and are inspired to help us offer that gift to others, by contributing anyway you can.

Contributing at our centre can take the form of giving time, skills, goods, and friendliness; there are so many things that one can give. If you any questions, or would like to help then please speak to Bodhivamsa, Atapini, Swadipa, Carumani or Paul. You could also check out our newsletters for current opportunities to help.

Another form of contribution or 'Dana' is to give money through donations both by putting money in the Dana bowl and through taking out a monthly standing order payment to the centre. All our classes are free of charge but of course donations are very gratefully received as we rely on the generosity of those who use the centre to keep it going. The bedrock of generosity is the standing order income so it really helps us if you can take out a regular standing order.

You can set up a standing order yourself. Please send us a message so that we can look out for it, thank you.

We hope you continue to enjoy our fantastic Centre!
