Portrait of Harsharatna

Harsharatna

Harsharatna grew up in Ipswich. He first encountered Buddhism in Nepal in 1990, and joined the Ipswich Buddhist Group (as it was then called) in 1991. He was ordained as Harsharatna in 1997 and has helped to found two Buddhist communities in Ipswich.

Harsharatna's spiritual focus is the practical application of Buddhist philosophy and psychology to his meditation practice. He also has a wide interest in how personal growth and development proceeds in different contexts.

Harsharatna worked for four years at the Evolution shop in Ipswich but then suffered a period of ill health. He recovered and has completely turned this round by qualifying as a fitness instructor, nutritional therapist and sports masseur. He has recently returned to regular teaching at the Ipswich Buddhist Centre.

Harsharatna's leisure interests include keeping fit, music, walking and flying kites.
