Portrait of Sukavi

Sukavi

Sukavi (pronounced 'soo-cuvvy') means Good or Virtuous (the Su part) and Bard, Poet, Singer (Kavi).

Sukavi is originally from Dagenham (then Upminster) Essex, and made contact with the FWBO at the 1993 Glastonbury Festival. From September that year he started attending classes with the Colchester Buddhist Group, at that time held at Trinity Street, Colchester. He moved to Ipswich in 1998 and lived for four years in the Men’s Community, 'Maitriloka'. He married Sarane, a fellow Buddhist (Community of Interbeing) in 2003, and was Ordained in June 2004 at the FWBO's men's retreat centre at Surlingham near Norwich, Padmaloka.

Sukavi's particular spiritual interests currently are meditation and bringing Buddhism more and more into his daily life.

He joined the Evolution shop team in 1999 (after previously being an accountant) and has interests in poetry, etymology, history, nature and playing music (Irish folk predominating).
