Contributing and Giving at the Ipswich Buddhist Centre

The Ipswich Buddhist Centre offers something that is priceless: the teachings of the Buddha in a supportive context. Many of us have benefited immensely from these teachings and we are inspired to pass them on.

Rather than charge directly, we ask you to contribute in whatever ways you can.

The Buddhist word 'Dana' means generosity, and generosity is a central Buddhist practice and principle. Generosity is a simple and effective means to go beyond oneself and is in itself an essential part of Buddhist practice. Our aim at the centre is to inspire a culture of generosity that will pervade the community for our mutual benefit.

The Centre needs time, skills, goods, friendliness and finance

To get involved and see how you can contribute just ask someone at a class that seems to be doing that. Maybe they are running or supporting a class or making the tea. Also check out our newsletter and Facebook for current opportunities to help.

All our classes are free of charge but of course the Centre also needs funds to run, and all our funds come from people giving directly.

To give you an idea of the finances, the Centre costs about £100 a day to run and that all comes from donations. We do cover our costs but we really want to be able to offer much more of the teachings and the warmth of the Sangha to the people of Ipswich.

People coming to the Centre sometimes can't afford to give financially and if that is the case for you at the moment we still very much want to reach out and support you with the Dharma and the warm support of the Sangha.

If you can support the Centre with finance, you can give money by putting money in the dana bowl at classes and that is really appreciated, immediate and tangible, and just a good thing to do. However our bedrock of generosity is the direct debit income and it really helps us if you can give that way. To do so fill in the form below and we will get back to you with details.

To give by direct debit or Paypal please follow one of the links on the right.

Both methods of giving will let you set up individual or regular donations and if you can a contribution of an extra 25% extra from the goverment by Gift Aid.
